A Prayer For the Dreamers

Lord,

I lift up the dreamers, the believers, and the ones who are hoping against hope. I pray that you sharpen their focus but soften their hearts.

I pray for the courage to keep pursuing their dreams, even if it feels like they’re running uphill in the opposite direction of everyone else.

May their eyes remain focused on you. Always inquiring of you what their next step should be, and checking to make sure that their desire is to see your name be praised and your people loved on.

You see these precious gossamer dreams that they’re cupping in their hands. You see them and you see the hearts beating wildly behind them, trying to make them a reality. I pray for your strength and blessing over both.

Remind them that they are not on this path alone. Surround them with people who can run alongside them toward the finish line, as well as crawl with them through the muddy trenches of uncertainty.

I pray that they will not be discouraged or disheartened when roadblocks come their way and the enemy tries to derail them.

May you instil in them a spirit of flexibility and tenacity. Always looking for a way to overcome the trials in front of them, and never losing hope in the process.

Remind them daily that it is ultimately you who is in control of how things turn out. Help them to rest in that, knowing that they do not have to bring their dreams to fruition solely by their own blood, sweat, and tears.

I pray that they’ll chase their dreams relentlessly and lay them down at your feet daily. Trusting that they are safest in your hands and your timing.

Help them to find joy in the journey instead of always yearning for the destination.

Keep them soft to your voice, and soft with themselves. Pouring grace lavishly over themselves, as they do with other people.

And may they see their beautiful, crazy, amazing dreams come to life right before their very eyes.
