A Prayer for the Weary Worker

Lord,

I lift up the ones who are tired today. The ones who feel like they’ve been walking down the same path for too long without seeing any fruit. The ones who are questioning if they should keep going if no one is going to notice them.

May they be reminded that it is not for the praise and accolades of men that they are working for, but for you; and that their worth is found in you alone.

Remind them that they do not labour in vain when their work is done in your name.

I know that it’s hard to keep doing the same thing repeatedly without seeing any progress. But your timeline is so much different than ours, and your standards of progress are based on heart changes not outward appearances.

Remind us that we might not always see the fruits of our labours in our lifetime.

Father, I pray for the one who feels like their hard work goes unnoticed, and for the one who feels as though they are unappreciated by those around them. Remind their hearts and minds that while people may not notice or acknowledge their efforts, nothing they do escapes your divine gaze. You see the work that they are putting in to build your kingdom, and you call it good.

Give them the energy to keep stepping up and moving forward along the path that you have laid out before them.

May they lift their downcast eyes and focus them heavenward. Always seeking after you.

Remind them that they are not working for earthy recognition because that might never come. Rather, they are working for the good of others and to bring you glory.

Grant them rest Father, that they might be able to head back into the world with a renewed spirit and a refreshed mind.

And may we always remember that when we labour in your name, we do not labour in vain.
