5 Podcasts to Listen to Right Now

I might be a little late to the podcast party, but now that I’ve arrived I have joined the dance floor with all of my Mennonite awkwardness (which means full ledged limb flailing in no particular pattern or rhythm). In reality, though, podcasts have become the bread and butter of my days, and the bright spot of my mornings. The five podcasts that I’ve listed below are a few of my personal favourites (in particular order) for every season and time in my life. Some are for commuting, some are for getting ready, and some are for those purposefully slow Sabbath mornings. There is a whole wide world of brilliant shows and hosts and topics out there, but here are five that have made my world a little brighter and a whole lot richer:

  1. For the Love with Jen Hatmaker

This is one of my favourite podcasts to listen to when I’m driving home because I can almost guarantee that each episode is 1 hour, which is the length of my usual commute. Jen covers every topic under the sun and movers and shakers as well as thinkers and be’ers. What I love most is that each episode if filled talks with such grace and compassion and leaves you feeling loved, empowered, and understood (and if you’ve seen my review of her books, then you know that this podcast will make you pee yourself laughing and bawl your eyes out all in the span of an hour).

  1. Back to the Bible

Shout out to my dad for recommending this podcast to me! What I love about this show is that they offer clear theological teaching all within 23 min! I listen to this every morning while I’m getting ready or in the evening before I go to bed. It’s a great way to get just a little deeper into the Bible and to get practical advice on how to apply Scripture to our daily lives all in bit size chunks.

  1. Moral Revolution

This show tackles tough topics that often aren’t talked about in the church. The candid conversations and real people that they interview are what makes this podcast so great. They cover a variety of topics, and I know even before I listen to an episode that I’m going to come away having said “amen” to at least half of the things that they say. Everyone is real and raw and still in the middle of the mess, which helps you to feel just a little less alone.

  1. Exodus Cry

I’ve loved Exodus Cry for years now, and finding their podcast made me so happy! They tackle the hard topics surrounding human trafficking and the culture of our society today. These episodes are a little longer, but they are 100% worth the listen. Not only do they talk about the facts around trafficking, but they highlight real-life solutions and stories to help you gain a broader perspective on the humans involved in the abolition movement.

  1. The Connected Life

Abi and Justin Stumvoll cover every topic you could think of: from marriage to body image to the church and everything in between. If you’re craving an authentic conversation about life and the trials and triumphs that go along with it, this is the podcast for you! This is one of my go-to podcasts because not only do Abi and Justin talk honestly, but they provide you with some seriously good advice for how to connect to your life and the lives of others around you.

I know that lots of you are podcast aficionados, so please please please drop suggestions or your favourite shows in the comments so we can all listen together! Happy listening everyone!

Xoxo,

Katherina
